Empadronamiento (Local Registration) Assistance

The Empadronamiento, or local registration, is an essential step for all international students living in Spain. It is the official record of your residence in the city and is required for several administrative processes — including obtaining your NIE/TIE, health card, and student visa renewal.

Why Is Empadronamiento Important?

Registering your address (Empadronamiento) confirms that you are a resident of Barcelona. It allows you to:

Where to Register

You must register at your nearest Ajuntament (Town Hall) or Civic Center (Oficina de Atención Ciudadana - OAC) according to your residential address in Barcelona.

Documents Required

Before your appointment, prepare the following documents:

Passport – Original and photocopy (main page and visa page).
Rental Contract / Housing Certificate – Proof of your residence address (must include your full name and be signed by both parties).
Utility Bill (if applicable) – Electricity, water, or internet bill showing your address.
C3S Enrollment Certificate – Issued by C3S Business School to confirm your student status.
Appointment Confirmation Slip – Proof of your online booking.
Completed Empadronamiento Form (Solicitud de Alta en el Padrón Municipal) – Filled in Spanish (our Student Support Office can help you complete it).

How to Complete the Process

Our Student Support Department provides:

Book an Appointment

Visit the official website and schedule your appointment at your nearest civic office.

Attend the Appointment

Bring all original documents and photocopies. The officer will review them and confirm your registration.

Collect Your Certificate

You will receive your Empadronamiento Certificate (Volante de Empadronamiento) either immediately or via email within a few days. Keep this document safe — you’ll need it for other official processes (such as TIE and visa renewal).
