Our Dean is a professional with extensive experience in Higher Education Management, International Recruitment and business development. She holds a Ph.D. in Education Management, specializing in International Higher Education, Marketing Strategies, and Business Development and Improvement.
Throughout her career, Dr. Dugarte has demonstrated exceptional leadership in various roles. Her expertise lies in management, international student admissions, recruitment strategies, partnerships, sales and marketing strategies. Her ability to navigate cross-cultural environments, institutional affairs and lead diverse teams has been instrumental in driving organizational success. She holds an MBA in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Prior to her career in education, she gained valuable experience in the financial sector as a Financial Advisor and Trader Jr. her experience in capital markets investments, managing portfolios, and financial advising has equipped her with a unique perspective on strategic decision-making and business operations. Her commitment to excellence and passion for education have been evident throughout her career. Her blend of academic achievement, leadership skills, and business acumen makes her a valuable asset in the field of higher education management.

Dr. Maria Fernanda Dugarte
Dean and Institutional Affairs Director
Dr. Mehrad is an esteemed academic professional, researcher, and Industrial and Organizational Psychologist specializing in Business Administration. With an impressive educational background, she holds dual Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Health/Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Social Psychology from Universiti Putra Malaysia, respectively. Additionally, she has attained a master’s degree in General Psychology.
In her role as Head of Academics, Professor, Researcher, and Doctoral Student Advisor, Aida excels with over 14 years of both national and international teaching experience, she´s made significant contributions to Academia. Her expertise ias researcher spans across Leadership, Business Management, Strategic Marketing, Strategic Management, Industrial and Organizational Behavior, Research Methodology, and Statistical Analysis. Her research has resulted in the publication of many papers in esteemed scientific journals and presentations at numerous international conferences. Beyond her academic endeavors, she is also the accomplished author of five motivational and personal empowerment books.
Driven by her passion for teaching, research, and academic collaboration, she is committed to making meaningful contributions in both teaching and research capacities.

Dr. Smirnova obtained her PhD in Management from theat Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She also holds a PhD. in Management from Suleyman Demirel University, a MBA in Entrepreneurship from Kingston University receiving a distinction for excellence. She holds a Master’s degree in Economic Sciences with distinction and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She has garnered numerous awards and accolades for her outstanding contributions to academia, was honored with the prestigious Kazakhstan President’s Award for “The Best Young Talented Scientist” in 2016 and has received awards for research excellence and ger extensive background, research achievements, and dedication to academic excellence, she continues to make significant strides in the fields.

He is a pioneering figure in the Hospitality and tourism sector, blending extensive academic expertise with a rich professional background. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Leisure and Human Development applied to the tourism industry, conferred by the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto, Bilbao, in 2013, Dr. Puertas completed a DEA in the program of “Doctorate in Leisure and Human Potential” at the University of Deusto in 2011. Commitment to fostering cross-cultural communication he is proficient in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, and Dutch languages, wich enhances the tourism experience for diverse visitors.

Additionally, He has contributed as a Visiting Scholar at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. Combining academic expertise with a corporate background his focus on digital transformation, multisided platforms, AI-driven innovation, and NLP business management underscores his commitment to advancing both academia and industry.

Emilio is a professional with a diverse background in corporate planning, public relations, and strategic management. In previous roles, Emilio has demonstrated his strategic acumen and leadership abilities. As former Public Relations Planning Manager for Maraven, an affiliated company of PDVSA. In addition to his corporate endeavors, he´s actively involved in academia, serving as an MBA Professor in Global Strategy & Management, Corporate Social Responsibility. He hold´s an MBA in International Management and Entrepreneurship from Tulane University (USA) and a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Emilio’s diverse experiences, coupled with his adaptability to different cultural and professional environments, underscore his versatility and effectiveness in navigating complex organizational challenges and driving strategic initiatives to success.

Pursuing his PhD in Tourism and Hospitality Program at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, focusing on social value distribution within Adventure Tourism organizations, his academic journey is enriched by a Master of Science in Management Sciences from Air University, where he specialized in Stock Price Forecasting using Financial Modeling and Artificial Neural Network. Holding a Bachelor in Finance from the University of Azad and Jammu Kashmir further solidified his expertise, highlighted by his project on Financial Analysis of National Bank.
Beyond academics, Ali actively contributes to his community through volunteering efforts with organizations such as Caring Soul Society UOBS and specializes in various areas including Operation Management, Business Finance, and Strategic Management.

Aida Mehrad holds two PHD’s in organizational, industrial, and social psychology and a master’s degree in General Psychology. She has six years of international teaching experience in different subjects, mainly Leadership, Business Management, Strategic Marketing, Strategic Management, Industrial and Organizational Behavior, Research Methodology, and Statistical Analysis. She has published 43 research papers specifically in organizational behavior, leadership, and management, distributed in scientific journals and international conferences, and is the author of 5 motivational and personal empowerment books.

He is currently a lecturer for various business schools in Barcelona, teaching Strategic Leadership and Business Management.
